description: "The historic village green of Altkötzschenbroda is the heart of the former winegrowing village and is considered one of the most beautiful village centers in the region. Its layout is a near-perfect example of a Franconian street-green village with narrow, deep farmsteads. Many of the preserved farmhouses and townhouses date back to the 19th century and continue to give the village its unique character to this day. Notable buildings include the Friedenskirche, the parsonage, the historic Oberschänke, and the Hotel Goldener Anker. After the political transition, the historic town center was extensively renovated and saved from decay. Since then, Altkötzschenbroda has developed into an architectural gem and a lively gathering place. The municipal gallery and Radebeul’s local history museum invite visitors to explore the region’s history and culture through exhibitions and events. Today, Altkötzschenbroda is a popular place to spend time for locals and visitors alike. Lovingly restored buildings, small shops, restaurants, cafés, and quaint wine taverns create a special atmosphere. Thanks to its proximity to the Elbe Cycle Route and its traditional wine, fall, and Christmas markets, Altkötzschenbroda is one of the city’s most important tourist attractions."
