Ev. lt. St. Pauli Kirchengemeinde Flögeln und Fickmühlen
========================================================

- Church

Protestant parish with an old brick church originally from the 12th century
.

 St. Paul's Church is located on a Geest hill in the center of Flögeln, close to the lake, surrounded by meadows, forest and protected high moorland.

It was founded around 1200 AD by the knights of Vlogelingen. An altarpiece with a Low German script dates from the Reformed period, while a baroque communion picture and the pulpit date from the Lutheran period from 1659. With the donations of the Leisewitz family from Bremen (priches, romantic organ, picture above the choir: Jesus blesses the children and a modern sculpture), it radiates unity and peace despite all the colorfulness. (Further information at www.floegeln.de)

The rectory dates back to 1820 and forms a unit with the parish barn, where parish life takes place. The parish includes the village of Fickmühlen and a church cemetery in Flögeln. The parish office has been linked to the parish office of St. Jakobi in Bad Bederkesa since 1974. However, the parish is run by its own church council.

The church council is made up of a good balance of men and women from Flögeln and Fickmühlen and, together with the other members of staff, works enthusiastically to preserve the "church in the village" and keep it alive. Church membership is over 90% - yet it is important to make the younger generations capable of speaking their faith.

The St. Pauli parish works well with the numerous associations in the village, but does not see itself as just another association, but as the body of Christ. The early introduction of children's communion on Whit Monday and the old form of communion on Good Friday reflect the joint growth of the old and young into the congregation.
