description: "After the Second World War, the municipality of Amt Neuhaus was assigned to the Soviet occupation zone and later became part of the GDR. This region was characterised by a particularly long section of the inner-German border, with a large part of the area being a restricted zone. Today, an exhibition in and around the former BT-9 observation tower provides information about the nature along the former border, tells stories of people who lived through this time and shows how the landscape has changed. The former border area is now known as the Green Belt, which is famous for its unique habitats and diversity of species. The border towers are located in Part C of the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve, which is particularly worthy of protection. There is an interactive station for children at the Darchau border tower where they can learn more about the local animal species. From the tower's pulpit, there is a wide view over the biosphere reserve and the surrounding landscape, giving visitors the opportunity to understand the development of this special region."

The exhibition in the border tower in Darchau provides information on border nature.

After the Second World War, the municipality of Amt Neuhaus was assigned to the Soviet occupation zone and later became part of the GDR. From the tower's pulpit, there is a wide view over the biosphere reserve and the surrounding landscape, giving visitors the opportunity to understand the development of this special region.
