The **Northeimer Seenplatte** is a destination for anyone who enjoys being outdoors by the water.

The **Northeim Lake District** is a major part of **Northeim's cultural and leisure life** offering activities on the large lake in the areas of

A 1.6 km circular path around the recreational lake is ideal for cycling, jogging or walking. A special windsurfing beach has been designated for windsurfing. This is easily accessible from the Nordhafen parking lot.

The lake district was **created** by gravel extraction and  covers an area of around 360 hectares and currently consists of 12 artificial lakes.The size of the lake is approx. 80 hectares. The released area is formed by approx. 47 ha area. The water depth is max. 38 m and the size of the island in the middle of the lake is approx. 29 ha.

For bathers, there is a **large sunbathing lawn** available at the gravel lake. The **open bathing area** has no infrastructure (such as toilets, changing rooms, bathing jetty, bathing island, benches, etc.) or supervisory services. It can be used free of charge during the day.
