Wooden footbridges and small bridges that protect the course of the stream and Bad Honnef's local mountain, the Löwenburg, the highest point on the Rheinsteig as a destination; what more could you want!

Unfortunately, this challenging hike often begins in the Bondorf district of Bad Honnef with a search for a parking space, as the narrow alleyways with half-timbered houses and restaurants are tempting. It is therefore better to park a little further away and walk a few extra meters. We follow the road into the valley, which soon turns into a forest path that takes us to a refuge and ponds. At the hut, we turn off into the Tretschbach valley and take the forest path to the 'Dicken Stein', a signpost, and turn left again into the valley. Along the course of the stream we find a narrow path and many wooden footbridges and small bridges over the wet ground. The typical Siefental valley takes us steeply upwards and once there, a circular path leads us around the Löwenburg castle. In the south-east, we find a steep ascent to the ruins, where an incomparable panoramic view far into the countryside awaits us. At the foot, the Löwenburger Hof invites us to take a break and we meet the Rheinsteig trail, which leads us down into the valley towards Drachenfels. Passing the Ölender, we come to the Breiberghütte, which offers a short ascent to the Breibergspitze. After the hut, we follow the path downhill and come to a wide forest path on which we leave the Rheinsteig trail. To the south we come to the Heisemicher Hütte, where we turn off and after a short forest path, which slowly turns into a path, we take the footpath downhill and come to the Schaaffhausenblick, a recently renovated lookout pulpit. Directly below the pulpit, we take the path across the slope, return to the buildings and after a few meters turn left onto the Finkenpfad, which brings us back.
