We now follow the circular hiking trail R1 and go up over the Hasenköpfe to Altenburg. From the field watchtower, you have a beautiful view of the town and the Harz foothills. About 150 m behind the watchtower is another viewpoint with a bench and a view of the collegiate church. Then the descent begins soon. The last stretch goes very steeply down. Please be extremely careful crossing the street! Now we turn left and follow Wipertistraße into town. Along the way, we pass Salzberg, the Arschkerbe, and Wiperti cemetery (crypt complex and Wiperti church with a very old crypt) and walk straight to the roundabout. Via Mühlenstraße, Schlossberg, Finkenherd, and Blasiistraße we return to the marketplace."
