Directions

**1. Ascent to the castle and into the forest**The tour starts at the central car park "An der Bleiche". From here, the path leads up Schulberg, crosses the historic marketplace, and follows Burgstraße (passing the tourist information) to Mühlplatz.

A special highlight awaits right at the beginning: We pass the St. Peter's Church and, through an open gate, cross the impressive courtyard of Rochlitz Castle. Behind the castle bridge, after a few meters, we turn onto the red-marked Rudolf-Zimmermann-Weg, which, as part of the Muldental hiking trail, steadily leads us up to Rochlitzer Berg.

**2. Summit bliss at Rochlitzer Berg**

At the former panoramic viewpoint (a distinctive former debris heap), we take the stairs. They lead us directly up to the Friedrich-August Tower. Here, the perfect opportunity for a rest with a wide view over the region (Leipzig to the north; Ore Mountains ridge to the south) is offered.

**3. Descent via the forest adventure trail to Sörnzig**

From the tower, it first goes back to the panoramic view and from there down towards Sörnzig. We follow the Wechselburger forest adventure trail, cross the Alte Lunzenauer Straße (forest road), and reach the resting place "Bellmanns Ruh'" at the forest edge. The walk-in wooden cube in a playful design is not only an architectural eye-catcher but also offers a unique panorama over the Mulde valley.

**4. Along the Mulde back to Rochlitz**

Arriving in the village of Sörnzig, we pass the former inn and the swing bridge. However, we stay on this side of the Mulde. The green hiking trail marking guides us directly along the bank of the Zwickauer Mulde. The path leads us downstream back to Rochlitz, with the castle already towering above the river from afar. Below the castle and St. Peter's Church, we go via Mühlplatz and the castle island with its modern recreational facility finally back to the starting point "An der Bleiche".
