You walk up the Veitsberg to St. Veit’s parish church. The oldest church, whose origins date back to the year 974, can be visited daily. The cultural route continues on the Gessner over the Heinrich-Heine path towards Weida. At the paper mill, head left and reach the romantic ruins of the Widenkirche via August-Bebel-Straße and Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße. On Erkenbertplatz the path leads down over the Kirchberg to the town church St. Marien. Over the Weida bridge, go to the town hall, then left behind it to Peterskirche and to Semmelweisplatz, where the former nunnery is located. Finally, walk about 200 m up to the Osterburg, the ancestral seat of the Vögte and the main attraction of the Thuringian small town.
