Historic parks, narrow gorges, and a plateau with good distant views characterize this circular hike through the nature reserves of the Wilde and Rote Weißeritz.

The hike first follows the Brüderweg over noticeably dry and warm slopes to Freital-Hainsberg and then through the moist and cool gorge to Somsdorf. Here stands the natural monument “Somsdorfer Eibe.” Via the Sonnentempel, you return to the starting point.

Directions

From the station in Tharandt, walk a bit toward the village. In front of the first house on the right side of the street is the entrance to the Brüderweg, which gently ascends a hillside path towards Freital-Hainsberg. Upon reaching the village entrance, follow the Green Stripe marking to Somsdorfer Straße; opposite the Freital-Hainsberg West stop is the entrance to Heilsberger Park. The ENSO energy experience path marking follows along the mill ditch to the entrance of the Rabenauer Grund at a weather mushroom. Alternatively, take Hainsberger Straße and the street “An der Spinnerei” to Freital-Coßmannsdorf stop of the Weißeritztalbahn. Passing the shopping and leisure center, you reach the Rote Weißeritz and cross a bridge also to the weather mushroom. The yellow stripe marking leads through the Teufelsklamm to Somsdorf and back to the starting point at Tharandt. Note: The path through the Somsdorfer Klamm requires sure-footedness and is not suitable for strollers.
