The Schladitzer See in the north of Leipzig is part of a recreational area that emerged from the recultivation of a former large open-cast mine. Nowadays, the beach at Schladitzer Bay, the Biedermeier Beach, and the Wolteritz lake side invite visitors to swim. The continuously asphalted circular path around the lake is suitable for hiking, cycling, and also skating.

Directions

The circular route starts at Haynaer Street, following a clockwise direction down to the south. On the southern stretch, the lake stage is passed until the path turns north again on the west side. On the left is the narrow Freirodaer Creek, on the right the path diverges to Schäferhöhe and follows the shore path around the northern tip. The path then leads southwards back to the beach and the starting point.
