description: "In the middle of Saxony's largest fruit-growing region lies the Obstland cycle route, which winds as a circular route through the culturally and historically rich landscape. Over a total of 58 kilometers, it connects the towns of Mügeln, Leisnig, and Dürreweitzschen, where the long tradition of fruit growing can be experienced in different ways. While the focus in the Mügeln area is on the origin story of the Obstland, Leisnig highlights the past life and work of the monks, and in Dürreweitzschen you gain insights into the current production processes. The Obstland cycle route thus consists of three thematically different sections and can be cycled via the individual smaller stages or the outer large circular route. In the middle of Saxony's largest fruit-growing region lies the Obstland cycle route, which winds as a circular route through the culturally and historically rich landscape. Directions

The bike route starts at Leisnig train station and initially passes the hydroelectric power plant and the impressive Mildenstein Castle towards Tragnitz. In Altleisnig, you cross the bridge to Wiesenthal before turning left at the entrance to Polditz and following the path to Böhlen.

Through the center of Böhlen, you cycle past the sedimentation pond and leave the town behind. The route continues to Leipnitz, from where you head northeast via Papsdorf, Dürreweitzschen, Zschoppach, and Ablaß towards Querbitzsch.

Via Börtewitz, you reach the geotope at Silbersee and then pass the opencast mining pit Frieden at the clay pit before heading to Kemmlitz. At the edge of town, turn left, briefly follow the country road, and then after a few hundred meters hold right to go past Wachberg to Glossen.

Along the Mügeln country road, you finally reach Nebitzschen train station and continue to the small town of Mügeln. Passing St. Mary's Church, the route takes you through the town center before you leave the area heading south. The Gauditzer Weg takes you to Lichteneichen and further to Sornzig.

From here, you go via Gallschütz, Naunhof, and Altenhof to the well-known Buch Monastery, where you can make a short stop. After crossing the Freiberg Mulde river, you finally cycle back to Leisnig via Paudritzsch, where the route ends.

The route can be cycled in both directions.
