On the way, there are beautiful views towards Altenburg and the Harz. In good weather, you can see the Brocken. In Westerhausen, you initially walk along a garden area. Almost at the end of the garden area, go straight ahead and from here follow the circular trail R2 towards Quedlinburg (Forsthaus Rennplatz, Rennplatz, Eselstall, Altenburg). On the Altenburg is the Altenburgwarte (a watchtower from the Middle Ages). The watchtower is accessible, but the lower half is pitch dark / not lit – flashlight required! From the watchtower you have a beautiful view towards the Harz and the town. From here, follow the green cross marking through the Brühl to the waterworks towards the town center."
