Artifacts,
(lat. Ars) are man-made objects, witnesses of human culture and creativity. "Artefacts" is also what Melle wood sculptor Bernd Obernüfemann calls his exhibition format, which will take place for the third time in June in the show garden and office building of the "Garten Brauers" horticultural company in Melle. For some time now, Bernd Obernüfemann has been using the show garden to exhibit his abstract and figurative wooden sculptures, some of which are very large.
The art of Bernd Obernüfemann:
Powerful sculptures and luminous objects in dialog with the material.
The works of Bernd Obernüfemann are the result of an intensive creative process in which conceptual thinking, master craftsmanship and direct engagement with the material merge in a unique way. His figurative sculptures and abstract light objects bear an unmistakable signature - a language of movement, texture and light that is deeply rooted in the nature of wood and the artistic vision of the creator.
For "Artefakte", Bernd Obernüfemann invites guest artists to present their works together with his objects as part of the exhibition. He offers artists who have already made a name for themselves as well as newcomers a platform. This time they include: Maike Steffans from Osnabrück, whose figurative oil paintings pay homage to creation, whether roaring surf or portraits, her focus is on being in the here and now. She poetically captures the moment in her paintings. Sabine Kahlo, also from Osnabrück, is mainly concerned with realistic acrylic and oil painting. Her focus is on people. A picture from a flea market gave her new inspiration. Is there such a thing as sustainable art? Yes! Sabine Kahlo proves it: She breathes new life into old paintings from the attic or cellar. Her whimsical collages make you smile. Her fashion is also sustainable and crazy: second-hand spiced up in a different way. Tobias Markmann from Versmold is a multi-talented artist who, as a trained steelworker, creates sculptures not only from steel, but also dares to work with other materials such as sandstone and alabaster. He also devotes himself to painting. On large-format canvases, he lives out surreal scenes and combines classical painting with graphic drawing in an unmistakable style. Joachim Matz from Melle developed a unique painting technique, "Metallurgical Pointillism", over the course of 10 years of dedicated work. He paints with metals on metal, representational and abstract. These are not welded collages, but paintings of unprecedented radiance. Joachim Matz is the only artist in the world capable of working according to this technique.
