The musical reading "Shostakovich fictional" combines literature and music to create an impressive portrait of the composer. Actor Ulrich Noethen reads excerpts from Julian Barnes' novel The Noise of Time, which sheds literary light on Shostakovich's life and work.
Musically, the reading will be complemented by the Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor op. 67 and the "Aphorisms" op. 13 by Dmitri Shostakovich, performed by Yuki Manuela Janke (violin), Friedrich Thiele (cello) and Onutė Gražinytė (piano).
The event takes place as part of the International Shostakovich Days Gohrisch.
