For more sustainability, more nature and environmental protection, there will be three trekking camps along the Saar-Hunsrück Climb in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park from April. Overnight stays in the wild nature of the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park are only allowed in these camps. The hiking trails to and between the camps mostly follow the Saar-Hunsrück Climb. But some of them also follow other hiking trails.
The trekking camps are open from April 1 to October 31 and must be reserved and booked online in advance.

CURRENT WARNINGS
The trekking camps are located away from towns and can only be reached on foot. As a rule, you won't find anything in the surrounding area – except for wild nature. To ensure that nothing goes wrong during this adventure and that the trekking tour is a safe pleasure, you should find out in advance about possible severe weather warnings. Hiking boots, sufficient drinks and food, as well as clothing and equipment adapted to the weather (sun, rain, heat, cold) are essential.
It is not allowed to light fires in any of the camps!
COST AND BOOKING
The booking costs 10 euros per platform. Only one overnight stay is allowed per camp.
The trekking camps are located between Kempfeld and Otzenhausen and can be connected to one another as part of a hike. The train stations at Idar-Oberstein and Türkismühle provide easy access for arrival and departure. However, the trails and camps are not signposted – anyone who wants to stay overnight must book a place in advance via an online platform. Hikers then receive a booking confirmation and directions for the “last mile”, i.e. access to the respective camp, by email.
