The Church of Jesus Christ, a Romanesque church situated on a hill in Meinerzhagen, is open to the public as an "Open Church." It serves as a place of spiritual reflection and as the official stamp station for the "Sauerland Camino" pilgrimage route.

Meinerzhagen was first documented as a parish town in 1174. The Church of Jesus Christ, an impressive Romanesque-style basilica with galleries, was built around 1220 and is the only example of this architectural type in the Märkischer Kreis. This three-nave, pillar-supported basilica with galleries is characterized by Rhenish influences, which give it a special place in regional church architecture. Originally known as a Marian pilgrimage church, it received its current name in 1967. The church’s choir was remodeled in the 15th century in the Late German Gothic style. The west tower was rebuilt after a fire in the 19th century. Particularly noteworthy is the octagonal baptismal font with its medieval column supports in the apse, an important cultural-historical artifact. The interior of the church has been carefully restored to its original appearance through extensive renovations, most recently in 2003, featuring a warmer color scheme and a harmonious rearrangement of the altar, pulpit, and baptismal font. As a protected historic monument, the Jesus Christ Church offers a multifaceted journey through various eras of architecture and regional history.
