As builders of the church, the canons of St. Simeon are mentioned as the ten lords of the village. In the following time, the church was probably reduced in size and the orientation was changed from north-south to east-west. The fact that Heckenmünster was the destination of many pilgrims' parishes in the near and far surroundings in earlier times suggests that the size of the church was too large for the small village population in the following period due to a ban or reduction of these pilgrimages.
