Ragna Reusch - Die Ahauser Schnitzerin

I am a certified graphic designer and wood sculptor, and I have enjoyed carving figurative pieces since I was a child. In the miniature format, I specialize in working with toothpicks, which I use to create surprisingly delicate figures with the help of a pocket knife.

In the large format, I work primarily with a chainsaw. Using oak as my preferred material, I carve my dynamic, whimsical, and often voluminous female figures—and, less frequently, male ones.

Partially applied bold colors and the rich texture of the oak create accents and emphasize the sense of movement.

Wearing mostly red pumps, the figures stand confidently in life—sometimes even doing a handstand or a balancing act. Despite their curves, they radiate a certain lightness, agility, powerful grace, and zest for life.
