The "Im Römerlager" site was discovered by chance on July 8, 2008 by licensed explorers while investigating the excavated soil that was produced during the development of the "Auf der Lake" construction area.
Since February 2022, the newly designed exhibition has been located in the foyer of the Porta Westfalica Business Center in Barkhausen. This is supplemented by a further section in which various prehistoric and early historical finds from the Porta Westfalica area are presented.
The exhibition is managed by the "Im Römerlager" working group set up especially for this purpose.
