Church
Today, St. Jacob's Church in Husum is a friendly and bright place of worship.
The Husum church was rededicated in 1776 after a fire destroyed the church, vicarage, school, widow's house and 22 farmhouses in 1774. In 1777 it was refitted with a baroque pulpit altar, which, together with the wooden galleries, makes the church so charming. The baptismal font dates back to the first church in Husum, most likely from the Middle Ages.

After the entire interior was burned down on October 13, 1774, the church received the altar that has survived to this day. It was made in Hanover and then brought in parts to Husum, where it was completed on April 5, 1777. The master carpenter Johann Christian Lauber in Hanover was responsible for the construction of the altar, i.e. the pulpit basket is located above the altar table and the sounding board above it. The carvings were made by the court sculptor Johann Friedrich Ziesenis from Hanover.
