The St. Martin's Church has a long history of development with many major incisions and subsequent restoration work.
When Abbot Sturm ordered the construction of 12 churches dedicated to St. Martin around 770, Greene also received St. Martin's Church as its main church.
In 1424, ownership disputes led to the first destruction of the castle, which was rebuilt in 1439 after being pledged by two brothers.
In the following years, there were also numerous conversions and extensions, with the basic renovation finally coming to an end in 1980.
Thus, the church was able to be rededicated as part of the 1000th anniversary celebrations of the village of Flecken Greene.
