Church
The Holtorf church is dedicated to St. Martin.
Only the base of the tower remains of the original Romanesque village church, which was first mentioned in a document in 1096. This tower was once adjoined by a relatively long but very narrow nave, which was barely wider than the tower.

The church probably acquired its current appearance in the 16th century. The year 1580 is engraved above the south door, which can be considered the latest date of completion of the renovation work at that time. A chronogram in the south wall (CHRISTO DVCe RESAVRATVM - Christ restored to the prince) encodes the year 1716. At this time, the church was rebuilt, during which the vaults were probably demolished and the wooden barrel vault was installed. In 1789, the church was given a new altar, a new pulpit and a wooden baptismal font in the Baroque style.

In the 1960s, the altar and pulpit were unfortunately removed. Only the baptismal font remained and is still used today. Since 1998, the church has been adorned with a new altarpiece. It is by the artist Pablo Hirndorf and bears the title: "Wood of Life". In the form of an elongated rectangle, the basic idea of a "river of life" with a center of hope and strength was created. The late baroque baptismal font was restored in 2008.
