The church owes its name to St. Nicholas. He was Bishop of Myra in Asia Minor in the fifth century and later patron saint of various cities, sailors and children. The name "Nikolai Church" was given in 1929 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the then Oldenburg seaside resort.
In addition to regular church services, the Protestant Nikolai Church also hosts numerous concerts and musical events for you. Directly opposite is the parish hall - also known as the "Klockhaus" - with a room of silence, where meditation and yoga, for example, are offered. In the church's adjoining paradise garden, you can occasionally attend open-air concerts in summer.
