The "Mills and Moor" circular cycle tour leads through 6 of the 9 villages in the municipality of Hille. You can start this family-friendly tour at any point. Numerous parking spaces and parking facilities are located directly on the designated route. The route has no inclines and leads through scenic areas and to numerous sights in the municipality of Hille. Among other things, it crosses the nature reserves "Bastauwiesen" and "Großes Torfmoor". Information boards in the large peat bog invite you to take a short break. You can also take a longer detour on foot to the observation tower or the moorland adventure trail. The windmills in the villages of Nordhemmern, Südhemmern and Eickhorst are located along the way. At the mills in Südhemmern and Eickhorst, you can experience the old craft up close on grinding and baking days. The listed Meyer grain distillery from 1763 in the center of Hille and the old chapel in Nordhemmern are also within sight or directly on the route. They are ideal for a short break or a visit.
At the northern turning point of the Mühlen und Moor-Tour is the Naturbadesee Mindenerwald, where you can take a refreshing dip free of charge in the summer months (parking spaces and sanitary facilities are available). For children and the young at heart, a pirate ship right by the water invites them to play and linger. There is a kiosk in the immediate vicinity.
Further places to rest or play along the route can be found at the village square and the sports field in Südhemmern, at the elementary school and the comprehensive school in Hille and at the elementary school in Nordhemmern. Parking is also available here.Good to know
