Hoya's landmark is located on a former Weserwerder. The 900-year-old St. Martini Church (although the main parts of the present church date from 1750) forms a unique historical ensemble with the neighboring rectory and the building complex of the 18th century von Staffhorst manor house behind it, as well as the nearby Bürgerpark.
Inside the church is the oldest gravestone of the Counts of Hoya. The church was abandoned by the Protestant church in 1967. It is now used as a cultural center and offers a stylish setting for concerts, readings, etc. for civil weddings with the possibility of a drink with up to 100 guests. (Information: Samtgemeinde Grafschaft Hoya, Tel. 04251-815340, e-mail standesamt@hoya-weser.de).
