Old distillery Schwake

The Alte Brennerei Schwake in Ennigerloh is an impressive example of the successful blend of tradition and modernity. Originally used as a schnapps distillery, the historic building was converted into a cultural center in the 1980s with the support of public funding, while respecting its status as a protected historic monument. Today, it offers a diverse venue for cultural events, including cabaret, theater, music, and poetry readings, which take place in the main hall and the Oak Room. The Alte Brennerei Schwake e.V. association organizes the varied program. A special highlight is the “Stickerei, Spitze & Co” museum, which offers insights into historical craft techniques. The Alte Brennerei’s movie theater, with one large and one small auditorium, is a popular gathering place for film enthusiasts. The building is wheelchair accessible and features an elevator as well as an inductive loop system to ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors.
