In the heart of Ennigerloh, the Old Schwake Distillery is a striking, historic building that welcomes visitors with a mixture of the historically traditional and an expression of the modern.
In the 1980s, with the help of public subsidies, the former Schwake distillery was successfully converted into a cultural centre with due regard for the preservation of historical monuments. Since then, events such as cabaret, theatre, children's theatre, music and poetry have taken place on the stages in the hall and the so-called oak room. In addition, there are various exhibitions. The programme is organised by the Alte Brennerei Schwake e.V. association.
In addition, the museum "Stickerei, Spitze & Co" (Embroidery, Lace & Co) is a place to go for connoisseurs of these techniques of past centuries, which are in danger of being forgotten.
The house's cinema is particularly popular. With a large and a small cinema, it is a meeting place for young and old.
Accessibility informationThe building is equipped with a lift to enable mobility-impaired people to visit without barriers. The hall for cultural events and the large cinema hall also have an inductive hearing system for people with hearing impairments.Good to know
