The Catholic parish church "Zu den Heiligen Engeln" was built in 1867 in the neo-Gothic style by Conrad Wilhelm Hase, a building councilor from Hanover, and houses a 13th century triumphal cross that is well worth seeing. The church administration is now housed in the associated 18th century monastery building.
There was also a famous monastery garden, where Capuchin monks worked from 1669 to 1823. In the middle of the 19th century, the old monastery church was sold and demolished. In its place, the representative neo-Gothic parish church with its mighty tower and octagonal choir was built, the foundation stone of which was laid on May 15, 1866.
The church has 280 seats. The interior was completely renovated in 2010, with the altar in the apse being re-roofed, the high altar removed and a new altar for celebrations installed. Above the altar is a valuable triumphal cross. At the same time, an English Romantic organ by organ builder Albert Keates (Sheffield) was installed to replace a Hillebrand organ from the 1950s.
