The Wiesensee, an artificially created body of water with a size of approx. 2 ha, is part of the "Historical and Ecological Adventure Trail" in Lauenbrück. In 1977, the ASV Forelle fishing club, in cooperation with the municipality, initiated the redesign of the so-called "dirty meadows". This referred to meadows that suffered from a high groundwater level with predominantly acidic grasses.
The Wiesensee is a popular fishing spot today. In autumn, large flocks of Canada geese rest on the lake for a few days and recharge their batteries for their onward flight to more southerly climes.
