The East Westphalian town of Lübbecke is located on the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge and belongs to the district of Minden-Lübbecke. The transition from the low mountain range to the North German Plain is ideal for hikers.
The mountain range, with its varied coniferous and deciduous forests, wild plants and animals, is especially worth seeing in spring or fall. The Wiehengebirge has been part of the "Northern Teutoburg Forest / Wiehengebirge" TERRA VITA nature park since 1962. Since 2015, the Wiehengebirge has held the "Unesco Global Geopark" award from Unseco.
