The mountain is not only very attractive for people. It serves as a landmark for numerous insects, including the swallowtail, probably the most beautiful butterfly in the Weserbergland. In the area of the castle ruins, you can observe it quietly as it "dances in the air".
The Desenberg is part of the "Exquisite Nature" area. There are a total of 18 such adventure areas in the Kulturland district of Höxter. They are all part of the "Natura 2000" protected area system and are therefore part of our European natural heritage!Good to know

From the A 44 (exit 65), take the B252 towards Warburg. In Warburg, turn left towards the station, past the station, following the L 552/838 towards Daseburg. At Gutshof Rothehaus, turn right towards Desenberg.
Parking lot at Desenberg
Warburg train station with ICE stop, from there take the bus to the bus stop "Daseburg, Rotehaus".

Experience the swallowtail "dancing" in the air! Visit the Desenberg in early summer in good weather.

Relatively steep but easy to walk ascent, in the upper section difficult ascent due to log steps.
The entire Desenberg is an important nature reserve. Therefore, no plants may be picked and the paths may not be left.
