The first chapel loop leads with gentle ascents and descents through the impressive cultural landscape of the Pleiser Hügelland and offers great panoramic views, extensive fields and idyllic valleys with meadows and pastures.
We start near Haus Schlesien at the Nikolauskapelle chapel in Heisterbacherrott and hike slightly uphill via Kasseler Heide to Vinxel and the Mariae Heimsuchung chapel. Characterized by fields and orchards, the Kasseler Heide offers beautiful views of the Oelberg, Rauschendorf and Rott with its striking church. After the chapel in Vinxel, we take the main route of the chapel hike, which connects twelve chapels along the way, and later the Hermann-Löns-Straße to reach the Donatus Chapel in Rauschendorf. Fields again characterize this section and we look towards Michaelsberg to Siegburg, the Stieldorf church and count the seven mountains with the eponymous view. After a short climb in Rauschendorf, the beautiful, half-timbered village center with its chapel invites you to take a break. After the buildings, we also leave the chapel hike, which continues via Bockeroth and Hartenberg to Wahlfeld to the next chapel. However, we take the beautiful path lined with hedges and trees towards Oelinghoven. After a short climb to bypass Oelinghoven, we turn into the Lauterbach valley and enjoy the meadow and stream landscape to get back to the starting point in Heisterbacherrott.
