Christmas market Monschau

More than 60,000 LEDs illuminate the festively decorated old town like a starry sky. The enticing scent of gingerbread, almonds, and delicious mulled wine wafts through the narrow alleyways. 33 decorated wooden stalls spread from the marketplace through Austraße to "Paterehöffje" and over the Rur Bridge to Gerberplatz in Stadtstraße. Since 2019, the market has been organized without plastic. Mulled wine and punch are served in the "Monschau Christmas Market mugs."

Anyone who follows the circular route will undoubtedly discover hidden gems: “Paterehöfje,” the picturesque Eschbachstraße, and in Stadtstraße the small winter market at “House at the Tower” or the cozy Christmas meeting place at Gerberplatz. Whether in the Christmas stalls or in the small boutiques and handicraft shops, the attractive selection of handicrafts, decorations, Christmas ornaments, high-quality and unique gift items, and treats promises a lot of fun when shopping for gifts and enjoying. The Aukloster is open on the second and third Advent weekends. The exhibitors present an attractive selection of handmade items in the cloister, from socks to scarves, from decorative cushions to baby clothing, gift items, and Christmas decorations.

To make the journey for visitors as convenient as possible, a special Park & Ride system has been set up for both bus groups and individual guests; on all Christmas market days from Monschau-Imgenbroich and additionally on Saturdays and Sundays from Monschau-Höfen and from Schulzentrum Haag.

Please note: access to the parking garages in the old town is ONLY possible on market days until 10 a.m. and after 9 p.m. Residents of the old town and employees of businesses, as well as guests who can present a written reservation confirmation from an accommodation or catering establishment, are allowed to drive the shortest route to the nearest parking garage – not through the town and only as long as sufficient capacities are available.
