Katrin Lazaruk - "Der Boden ist Lava"

Stagecraft
Installation
In her exhibition "The ground is lava", Katrin
Lazaruk embarks on a very personal search for clues. The starting point
is the children's game of the same name: Whoever touches the ground
falls into the lava. A game that in Lazaruk's work becomes a
metaphor for the delicate terrain of her own past
and memories. At the center of her artistic
practice are analogue videotapes - fragile carriers of long
past recordings. Lazaruk uses this material in two ways: On the one hand, she weaves the tapes into
sculptural objects - dense, corporeal forms in
which memory literally becomes entangled. On the other
hand, the tape is used to create large-format pictorial works:
childhood photos and typical dishes from her early years.
The artist invites you to wander through the lava with her
and immerse yourself in the world of your own memories
together.
