How about treating yourself to breakfast, lunch or a coffee break? The legendary Niederegger marzipan nut cake is the perfect snack for a short stop on your stroll through the Old Town.
On the second floor, the Marzipan Museum presents the history of the “harem confectionery” and vividly traces its long journey from the Far East to Lübeck. The 12 life-sized marzipan figures – from Thomas Mann to Wolfgang Joop, all of them lovers of Niederegger marzipan – form a particular highlight of the exhibition. Delectable marzipan souvenirs of the Hanseatic city, especially the magnificent Holsten Gate made of pure marzipan, can be bought here on the ground floor.
We also recommend visiting the Niederegger Arkadencafé overlooking the historic Town Hall, St. Mary’s Church and St. Peter’s Church.
