There had previously been a synagogue in Greisenbruchstraße. A fountain in the garden of the house at Videbullenstraße 15 may have been part of the furnishings of a micveh, a ritual bath required in every synagogue. In 1865, the synagogue moved to the new synagogue in Kampstraße, which was burnt down on the night of the pogrom in 1938. A new Jewish place of worship was built on the site in 1958, which is now the center of the Jewish community in Minden.
The Old Synagogue can unfortunately only be viewed from the outside.
