The natural bathing lake "Die Rolle" (approx. 28 ha) is located in a nature reserve to the west of the town of Nienburg/Weser. As a standing tributary, the lake is on the left-hand side with no connection to the Weser. The depth is approx. 8 m and the area approx. 28 ha.
Free parking is available, as is a sunbathing lawn. The fishing club uses the lake, as does a surf club in the southern part.
It is a former sand and gravel quarry. A small island serves to protect birds and may not be entered. The role is of great importance as a breeding and resting area for birdlife.
Please find out in advance whether there are any restrictions (e.g. swimming ban due to blue-green algae, etc.).
