One of the oldest churches in northern Lippe is that of Sonneborn
.
The first documented mention of the church dates back to 1381. During the renovation in 1954, a mural dating from 1564 was discovered, which is a rarity among Protestant churches in Germany. Spread across the vaults, the Passion of Jesus Christ is depicted in twelve pictures. Pictures of the Ten Commandments can be seen between the vaults. The current church is a simple, rectangular building with a square west tower. The originally gray quarry stone building was plastered at the beginning of the last century. (Anette Stadermann)

The church can be visited during the day.
