The church in the historic town center of Radegast, close to the Elbe cycle path, has a rich history. The patron saint of the church has been unknown since 1653, giving it a mysterious aura. A devastating fire destroyed pews, floors and the pulpit in 1627. The old tower was torn down in 1752 and rebuilt in 1759/60. The sacristy was added in 1729.
The altar, a masterpiece from 1811, attracts the attention of visitors. The elaborately crafted chandeliers from 1658 and the magnificent altar ceilings from 1801 and 1849 are particularly impressive. The wooden pulpit from 1811 bears witness to the craftsmanship of past centuries. Since 1884, the sound of an organ has filled the church with music.
After extensive renovations, regular church services have been held there again since 1998. In the summer months, the church is open to the public and invites visitors to reflect as a cycle path church.
