Church
The chapel, which has been recognised as a cycle route church on the Elbe cycle path, is open around the clock from Easter to Thanksgiving.
There was probably already a chapel in Stiepelse at the beginning of the 15th century. Later, towards the end of the 18th century, a small half-timbered church was built, but it fell into disrepair when the parish decided to build a new chapel in 1799. However, this new chapel was destroyed by a major fire in 1810, along with 19 other buildings, including the school. The current chapel was built in 1852 and was consecrated on the third Sunday of Advent in 1853. Until 1945, Stiepelse was part of the parish of Barskamp and the preacher came from there, except when high water or ice on the Elbe prevented this. After extensive renovation work, the chapel was re-consecrated on the third Sunday of Advent in 1997. The pulpit altar was reconstructed using a photo from the early 20th century.
