How would you like to arrive?
The saint had lived as a hermit in the Egyptian desert in the 4th century. In front of the church is an Antonius fountain, whose motif refers to the beginning of Christian missionary work in the pagan land of the Saxons.
From the 14th century, Remsede developed into a place of pilgrimage; however, this ended after the Reformation. In 1932, the existing, old church building was largely remodeled and took on its current form, with the church tower only being added in 1966. Despite the renovations, parts of the Gothic predecessor church can still be seen in the choir. Worth seeing is the high altar with the statue of St. Anthony from the workshop of the so-called Master of Osnabrück.
