The starry sky and its movements are projected true to life in a dome with a diameter of 8 meters. Elaborate multivision shows convey the latest astronomical findings. In addition to the "Skymaster" planetarium projector from Carl Zeiss Jena, more than a dozen slide projectors and an elaborate video projection system are used.
The adjoining museum with its stage-like exhibitions and outdoor facilities conveys the ecological connections between regional areas of life. Worth seeing are the staged underground caves "unter.Welten", the geological journey through time "TERRA.vision" and the underground zoo. The planetarium shows presentations under an artificial starry sky.
