Church
The first church building on this site was constructed from natural stone around the year 1000.
The current church in late Romanesque style dates from the beginning of the 13th century and was built for a canon monastery founded by Bishop Iso in 1220.
This was a monastery-like community of clergymen who came together several times a day to pray psalms in the choir of their church. There is a sandstone tower to the west. This was raised by two storeys of brick in the late Gothic period. A convent building was added to the north side, the remains of which now serve as a sacristy.

The church building is divided into two vaulted bays and a choir bay with a semi-circular apse. They are covered with a round-arched groined vault the apse with a half-dome. The vaults are already Gothic.

A medieval painting can be found above the altar in the dome of the apse. It shows Christ as ruler of the world with the four evangelists. The tomb slab of Bishop Iso from 1231 has also been preserved. It is one of the oldest of its kind on the continent. The baptismal font made of polished limestone dates back to 1649. The current organ with 13 stops was built by the Hillebrand company in Altwarmbüchen near Hanover in 1974.
