St Anne's Chapel was originally built as a house chapel for the mother of Baroness Odilia Carolina von Bongart, based on a design by Cologne architect August Carl Lange.
The chapel was named after a nearby park, in which there was a wayside shrine dedicated to St Anne. The church's patron saint, St Anne, can be found with her daughter Mary as a statue in the chapel.
The neo-Gothic architectural style of the chapel includes oversized tracery and mosaic windows and a carved altar. There is a family coat of arms of the founder in the prayer room. The choir windows from 1922 were partially destroyed during World War II, but the tabernacle door has been preserved in its original state. The rest of the interior is only partly Gothic due to a remodelling in the 1960s.
A special attraction is the root cot, which is rebuilt in the chapel every year during the Christmas season. Around five !!! tonnes of oak roots are transported. tonnes of oak roots are transported and used. As these are natural building materials, each cot is different and unique. The construction time is always around 5 weeks. The cot builders are now a well-organised and well-coordinated team.
In addition, the chapel has been home to a remarkable pipe organ by builder Harry Dix since 1996.
