A church in Vörde is mentioned in documents as early as 1282. During the Thirty Years' War (1618 to 1648), the church, which stood directly in front of the castle fortifications (near today's Großer Platz street), was destroyed twice and rebuilt on its current site from 1651.
A communion chalice and a chandelier still remain from the previous church. A pew was installed from the old archiepiscopal palace church. The baroque organ case was built between 1728 and 1733 by the Celle organ builder Erasmus Bielfeldt. A bell, which came to Bremervörde from Langkafel/Pomerania after the Second World War, had already been cast in 1406.
The patron saint of the church and the town was St. Liborius. He lived in the 4th century as Bishop of Le Mans and was regarded as a helper for stone ailments and a friend of children. His relics have been in Paderborn Cathedral since the year 836.
The ev.Lutheran St. Liborius parish is today
- an open church,
- a parish with a long tradition that also breaks new ground,
- a parish with many offers,
- because many people are involved,
- a parish with many opportunities for you to bring your talents into play,
- a parish with family offers, church music and youth work,
- a parish in which the power of God can be felt,
