St. Marien Church - Historic OsteDeichroute
The parish of Hechthausen was first mentioned in documents in the 14th century. St. Mary's Church was probably built in the 13th century, but suffered considerable damage during the Thirty Years' War. It was given its present appearance in the 17th century. The church tower was added to St. Mary's Church in 1971 in place of its wooden predecessor.
The building, which is dominated by a winged altar inside, is located in the middle of the village on a hill. The church used to be surrounded by a cemetery, which is commemorated by three grave monuments in front of the north side of the tower.
