The flat ArchitekTour route is a real invitation to cycle! Those interested in architecture will find buildings worth seeing, special squares and historic town centers along the way. From Rheda-Wiedenbrück (Ems) and Gütersloh (Dalke) there are sections along the river.

At the starting point of this route, the moated castle of Rheda, Weser Renaissance and Westphalian Baroque blend together skillfully. From there, you cycle through the Flora-Westfalica Park to Wiedenbrück, which impresses with its ornate half-timbered farmhouses. Life pulsates behind these magnificent doors: Cozy cafés and restaurants invite you to linger.

Continue along the Ems to Rietberg. Many lovingly restored half-timbered monuments await you here. The historic town hall is considered one of the most beautiful in Westphalia. The route continues past the Rietberg Garden Show Park to Neuenkirchen and the parish church of St. Margareta, the oldest parish in the former county of Rietberg. Finally, you reach the Benedictine abbey of Varensell.

The route now leads to Gütersloh, via the babbling Ölbach stream with the listed Delker watermill. You cross the Determeyer settlement and come to the 16th-century Spexard farmhouse, the oldest house in Gütersloh. In the city center, you will witness architecture steeped in history at the half-timbered ensemble on the old church square around the Apostelkirche. Afterwards, it is worth making a detour to the town museum with its unique museum café.

Enjoy the relaxing riverside promenades along the Dalke on your journey out of town and continue to Rheda, whose modest Calvinist half-timbered houses have their own charm. You will soon return to the starting point.
