DISCOVER SOLINGEN BY BIKE
Cycle route with ups and downs - and valuable historical insights
The course of the river Wupper forms the picturesque backdrop for this lovely cycle route for several kilometres. The river’s tributaries are also your companion at many points along the route. Even more variety is also on offer.
Exciting insights into industrial culture
Again and again you will come across ancient grinding cottages that have been preserved to this day. You can even take a look inside Wipperkotten and Balkhauser Kotten. Just hop off your bike and see the ancient art of grinding for yourself.
Make a pit stop
The historic town centre of Solingen Gräfrath is also a real stunner. Cafés in the old town there invite you to take a leisurely break.
Variety is guaranteed
The route continues up hill and down dale. There are a few climbs to conquer on the way, but there also sections with very few inclines. Also included is the protected Ohligser Heide with its rare species of animals and plants which you will pass through at the end of the route. The cycling is stress-free here and on the corkscrew route (Korkenziehertrasse), the s-shaped cycle trail through Solingen.
