Your starting point is either one of the three important former monasteries that the trail connects: the Benedictine abbey of Herzebrock, the Premonstratensian monastery of Clarholz or the Cistercian monastery of Marienfeld.
You hike along natural routes that provide variety and many sensory impressions. The trail leads you over sandy soils and field paths, passes through wooded areas and follows the course of the River Ems in two places. The sound of the river and the leaves of the forest quickly make you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The soothing fragrances in the monastery grounds hint at the former kitchen garden function through the partially preserved and restored herb gardens. In between, you have earned a little refreshment in the "Café Kloster" (Marienfeld).
