This 15 km long EifelSpur trail takes you through the hills densely covered with juniper bushes in the impressive Lampertstal nature reserve near Alendorf and Ripsdorf south of Blankenheim.

The juniper, the cypress of the north, is the star of this 16-kilometre Eifelspur "Tuscany of the Eifel" hiking tour, which starts in Blankenheim-Ripsdorf. The largest contiguous juniper conservation area in North Rhine-Westphalia lies to the south of the municipality of Blankenheim.

The Lampertstal nature reserve, which is crossed on the hike, is an ecological gem of particular value. Valuable habitats for flora and fauna have developed here through centuries of extensive grazing. The nutrient-poor grasslands have shaped the landscape of the northern Kalkeifel for centuries and are among the most beautiful and nationally important cultural biotopes in the Eifel.

Orchids bloom in early summer and gentians in late summer. Numerous insects populate the flower-rich lawns of the limestone drifts. In the middle of the landscape, the Calvary rises above the landscape. From there, the view sweeps far across the landscape. The Hohe Acht, the highest mountain in the Eifel, rises on the horizon. Here you can feel the special magic of the Calvary and forget everything around you, at least for a moment.
