Where does the Else spring from?

Their origin is still a mystery today. The best-known explanation is the bifurcation, a fork in the river. In Lower Saxony near Gesmold, the waters of the Hase split and form two rivers, the Hase and the Else. However, this very rare, naturally occurring phenomenon is doubted as an explanation. The Else could also have been diverted by a ditch.

In any case, it flows into the Werre near Löhne. And right in between lies this route, which describes life on and with the river.
